Lynn Swann that is. Dude, did you see those two catches # 24 of the Seattle Seahawks made against the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football, October 6, 2014? If not, dude you missed an amazing trick: a beast became a swan. Lynn Swan that is...
The first A-MAZING catch that Marshawn Lynch made was on a great Russell Wilson improv. It was 3rd and 5, he was being pressures so he threw it to Marshawn on the sideline. Total toe-tapper here--and Marshawn pulled it off. I couldn't believe it. You see the Marshawn Lynch I remember from a couple years ago couldn't catch worth a lick. He was dropping passes right and left, and if memory serves me right was pulled in favor of someone else on obvious passing dwons. Stone-hands Lynch... but no more. It 2014 now and this beast has grown his skill base considerably and he CAN be relied on to in the passing game. Marshawn's game has grown to the point where Seattle offensive cordinator Darrell Bevel is actually splitting Marshawn out as a wide receiver--and now even I'm starting to buy it!
The 2nd great catch Marshawn Lynch made in the game against the Redskins was another improv play by Russell Wilson who threw it to Marshawn near the sideline where he made a bunch of ballet-style jukes that got him like a 25 yard reception to make a key 1st down which helped salt the game away.
A-mazing athletes DO amazing things, and Marshawn Lynch IS one of those amazing athletes. Yes, his bread and butter will always be between the tackles; battering and beating defenders up on tough runs. But I'm here to tell you that there's another gear in this beast that's being shifted into now, and trust me it makes for good cinema.
I will NEVER forget that game winning run Marshawn Lynch had against the New Orleans Saints in a playoff game a couple of years ago. He ran for like a 60 yard touchdown in which he ran over practically every member of the Saints defence at least once.
Yes, Marshawn Lynch is a bit of a goofball--but he's our goofball! And the whole city of city has grown to accept who and what he is. And golly o golly is he ever fun to watch. Forget Richard Sherman. Forget Russell Wilson. Forget Percy Harvin. Marshawn Lynch IS the epitome of the Seattle Seahawks;and everything that GM John Schnieder and head coach Pete Carroll have been growing ever since the took the reigns: an exciting team that is ever evolving into something new.
Their is something about Marshawn Lynch that people who love and watch football gravitate too: the tough punishing running, and then there's the whole Skittles thing. Dude's just different. But an interesting, I-wanna-know-more kind of different.
I don't know how much longer Marshawn Lynch is going to last. There's a lot of talk up here in Seattle that at some point his productivity is going to fall off a cliff. We saw that happen to Shawn Alexander after our 1st Superbowl in 2005. I don't know what Marshawn Lynch's end-game is going to be, but while he's with the Seahawks he is must-see T.V. I love him. Seattle loves him. And YOU need to love him too. He is so fun to watch when the Seahawks are playing football.
So do yourself a favor, and this Sunday pull up a chair and watch the best show going in the NFL right now, and that's Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks!
