NOW is always the time for a little romance. Romance makes the heart feel good. Sad to see so many people these days "down" on romance. Talk to most people about this subject and the brush it away. Not me! I may not be romantically active, haven't been in a long, long, long-long time; but that doesn't mean I'm dead to it. Quite the opposite, E.C. Henry thinks about chasing tail. All. The. Time.
Why not?
Girls rock!
Maybe this one's looking for a little romance too...
Just kidding, that Taylor Swift, and if romance is ever dead to her
The rest of us are in big trouble.
Huge fan of females and what the bring to the table. And THIS winter I'm getting in the Valentines spirit with help ofScribophile. Scribophile is a critique site. I've been there two week now. Most useful thing I've found there so far is group called "MUSE". At the prompting of one of their contests I wrote a short story, which may lead me to a 3rd script off the SO BACK & GET HER vine. But mostly I'm using Scribophile to help me edit and improve the prose on the Thars series of novels I'm working on.
Will E.C. EVER get Thars done?
That's a good and fair question. I don't know. It's so massive, and I want it to be good. The newness of the story is long gone, and now I'm left with MASSIVE amounts of editing. All of which I have to do. BY. MY. SELF. So, yeah it's a grind. BUT I am making progress, just not the breakneck progress I was hoping for. So far the critiques on Tharshaven't helped much. A lot of the writers there are hobbiests like me. Even the one who "technically" write in the genre I'm in focus their stories on vampires and demons. That's not me. It will never be me. I've critiqued several of that color of fantasy story and it's really not my cup of tea, nor are those stories I'd wanna edit in mass in a novel exchange arrangement.
And so the search for "my tribe" continues... Still looking for people who like godly, epic fantasy in the vein I write in.
For Valentines Day I posed a couple romance entries from book II in the Thars series, A STRANGE SENSE OF DIVINE DESTINY:
Gotta NAIL the segment. Stories have highlights that require extra attention. The segment where Dale and Reianne connect has to be good. (Dale is the Thars series main protagonist, while Reianne Helms is the Elfin king's daughter that Dale falls for)
You can also see the genesis for SO GO BACK & GET HERspin-off in my writing sample at Scribophobe.
So love and stories of love live on in the heart of this romance enthusiast. It may be dead in society today, but I'm going to do my best to bring it back, because in my heart-of-hearts I believe it's a noble pursuit.
Celebrating women in games of courtship.
That's what I see as a bed-rock belief of romantic comedies, and I still stand for that belief. Romance lives on--even in the dead of winter!
Ahhh... Allegra Cole visited me in my dreams last night. And we swam together in a swimming pool, no less!
Okay, BEFORE we get into my dream, and how a "hottie" like her got in my dream I'll bring you up to speed as to who Allegra Cole is...
Allegra Cole was the love interest of Albert Brennaman (Kevin Jame's character) from the 2005 movie, HITCH; which stared Will Smith and had Eve Mendez as his journalist love interest, Sara. I ranked HITCH, 24th in terms of my favorite rom-com movies of all-time. From this post, here was my quick summary justifying my feelings about the Hitch (2005: written by Kevin Bisch, directed by Andy Tennant):
"I wasn't real sold on the main love storyline between Hitch and Sara (Will Smith/Eva Mendez) but the Albert and Allegra (Kevin Smith/Amber Valletta) B romantic storyline made me smile a lot."
So in MY opinion HITCH had "something" with the Albert/Allegra romance, but was lacking something with its central romance between Hitch and Sara. I'll go a little more into why Hitch (Will Smith)/Sara (Eva Mendes) didn't work. You talk about contrived! A romance fixer falls for a skeptical journalist feels unreal and totally contrived. Now IF you have strong enough set pieces a romantic comedy CAN overcome that sand in your shorts, but alas; imo Will Smith and Eva Mendez DIDN'T pull that off. I didn't like either of their characters and the scenes they were in weren't funny enough to overcome their character and they way they played them.
Here's Hitch's logline (which I cut and pasted off IMBD):
A smooth-talking man falls for a hardened columnist while helping a shy accountant woo a beautiful heiress.
Here's a trailer put out to promote an audience going to see this romantic comedy:
I would classify HITCH as an Ego-com. Remember that gem from August of 2011? I thought not, hence the link reminder. HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS (2003) being the gold standard as to how to overcome a two contrived leads through great set pieces. Anywho, now that you're acclimated as to who Allegra Cole is let's delve into how she got be in one of E.C. Henry's dreams...
My dream last night was an unexpected delight. I was in a swimming pool with Amber Valletta. There was a Hollywood party going on around us, and Amber's boyfriend was watching us from his table. As we treaded water together Amber said that she was a screenwriter too, we connected and talked about that. She smiled at me, and then I kissed her... She then looked at me funny, and did not reciprocate further lovey-dovie stuff. Then the dream ended.
Will Albert and Allegra kiss or not?! (Gotta rent the movie to find out)
Not much of a dream, but in all honesty I don't dream about romantic escapades with women very much. Can't ever remember dreaming of Jennifer Love Hewitt (my first female "muse" as a writer 2001-2009), nor Taylor Swift (muse status 2014 - 20018), nor Kaya Jones (muse status 2020). Just so you know I use my female "muse" as my inspiration, the ideal female for romantic exploits in rom-com applications. Only girl I ever had "pinned up" on my wall was --
I bring my "muses" up, because the "dream" of swimming with AllegraCole really came out of the blue. You'd think I'd be dreaming about some other girl from my past, but I didn't I dreamed of treading water, trying to connect with someone in the pool with me, then getting romantically rejected.
But when I woke up, that's when it dawned on my the significance of "a woman's choice". Ultimately it's the woman's choice who her "man" will be. Paulina chose Ric Ocasek of the pop band the Cars fame, Jennifer Love Hewitt is married with a least one kid now, Taylor Swift's current beau is Joe Alwyn: an English actor who has yet to hit it big, and Kaya Jones has a love interest that she's committed to, I THINK the guy's name is Derek.
So where does that leave ol' E.C.? Well, for starters I'm not in the same league as Paulina, JLH, T.S., or Kaya. These were all people who had a fan base and were popular public figures at one point. Me, I'm just an undiscovered "little guy". So, YES, I do know my place in the grand scheme of things...
But this dream got to to think about how cool it is when a woman does commit to a guy. I wrote about this a LONG TIME ago in the script, "CUPID'S HELPERS", a rom-com from yours truly 2005/2006, my 6th spec. script written (as remember from a couple posts ago I said I also wrote a Planet of the Apes spec. script which I'm not allowed to share for copyright reasons). Anyway the logine for CUPID'S HELPERS is this:
An award winning romantic comedy writer experiences romantic foibles of his own after a business associate, who has a secret crush on the writer, joins him on a trip back to his hometown for his high school reunion. There, at the reunion, the writer reunites with his own secret crush, who was the inspiration for the writing that made him famous.
A while back, when I updated my rom-com sub-genre post to include the spec. scripts that I had written I classified CUPID'S HELPERS as a Destiny rom-com. I slotted CUPID'S HELPERS this way because it's central question revolves around a writer coming to grips with a crush he had in his past and LETTING HER GO, and in fact in the story actually helping her save her marriage. Destiny over ego in this one. Yes, various aspects of working careers were played with in CUPID'S HELPERSbut in the end its about people coming to peace with their own hearts and the romances that they're engaged with. That's the fun thing about writing romantic comedies is that you can delve into issues like that.
The older I get, I'm 51 now will be 52 on June 10th, the LESS I think about romance and stuff like that. I think that's true of most other people too. Gotta find your mate when you're young. Get older and don't have that person and the pickings get fewer and your drive lessens. Maybe that's why so many people divorce when they get older... Their sex drive lessens, and they evolve into something else that they weren't when they first get married. BOOM! Welcome this blog, remember it is called INSIDE THE BRAIN OF E.C. HENRY. And here that's what you get my musing for better or worse.
Wish I could have seen more of Amber Valletta -- acting & as a model when she was younger. Wow, what a hottie! But eventually Father Time catches up with us all.
Still, the movies we see DO have an impact on our psyche and our lives. My dream last night proves as much. HITCH (2005) wasn't a great movie, YET one of its characters and storylines made it into my dreams! How cool is that?!! Amber, you're welcome come visit me in the pool anytime! And if you want to reciprocate the kiss I gave you (in my dream) even better!! Until, then I will, as I've always done, RESPECT a woman's choice. Maybe someday somoene will choose me! I think that's why cavemen had those clubs, too many of their romantic foibles need a more physical approach. (Just kidding, that was a joke)
Romantic Comedies are for people like me. People in the pool who have yet to have their romantic overtures reciprocated, and so we tread on...
P.S. I'm probably going to start work on SO GO BACK & GET HIM starting tomorrow. It's my sequel to SO GO BACK & GET HER -- only with a different protagonist. So be expecting a FRESH POST from yours truly in the next couple days on that... I may be rejected by the world of women, but I haven't rejected them.
The idea for this post today came to me while I was editing the Thars manuscript. I felt like it was slog. Felt like I was slogging through wet snow and everything was harder than it should be. And that got me to thinking about an actual dog sled race that I remember from my past. The Iditarod dog-sled race.
Back when I was living in a suburb outside of Anchorage, Alaska (in the winter of 1980/1981) I vaguely remember going to that city during the Fur Rendezvous to see to dog sleds as teams were preparing for the upcoming race. They didn't impress me much back at the time, but I was awfully young at only 12 years old.
Over the years my family has had a lot of dogs. Mostly golden retrievers but a few spaniels (bird dogs) along the way. I used to enjoy going running I occasionally took the dog of dogs at the time with me. And I can tell you from experience that dogs like to run. Their is a wildness to animals. They like doing things outdoors. Its in their nature. So, no I don't think it's animal cruelty to have dog sledding team.
Writing is a lot like a long-distance race.
Its a long journey with a lot of dead times where your just getting through it.
If this picture doesn't make you feel the cold, then I guess you're just a better man than me!
January/February is my least favorite time of the year. Where I live in Washington it's grey, cold and usually quite miserable. Good time to write, I guess. Just wish I could get these novels completed. Guess I wish I was a faster writer, and was more on-the-ball. But most days I'm like --
Is that dog wearing swimming glasses like dork city or what?
Still you've gotta start and finish somewhere!!
See the start and the end of the race. That doesn't look so bad, right? (Except there's 880-1000 miles between these two places!) #Eeek
I was kinda curious how big the purse was. Did you know the top winner of the 2020 Iditarod dog-sled race ONLY won a little over $51,000 ? Not much drop off for #2 at $43,000, 20th place still got you 10 grand, with 21-34 after that getting you just over $1,000 -- but to get paid you had to finish. Sigh. I can sooo relate. I've gotten a dime off any writing I've ever done. Doing for the love of the sport, I guess, much like these mushers who are slated to compete in the 2021 Iditarod dog-sled race that is slated to start on March 6th.
After looking at several profiles it dawned on me that these were just dog lovers who were looking to fuse that with little test and competition. -- which is very relatable to MY OWN writing journey; I'm not doing this for wealth and fame, I'm doing his as a labor of love, yet with a type of long-suffering competition angle to it. E.C.'s Iditarod!
Don't know about you, but going across a lake of ice would make me nervous.
I don't know if my form of daring compares with the 53 mushers slated to compete in the 2021 Iditarod. But the stamina angle is definitely there. I've been working my Legend of Thars series since 1994, that's like 27 years, and now a days they're FINISHING the Iditarod race in about 10 days. In a way you can't help but admire these people's bravery. Out there in the freezing ass cold mushing a sled. Definitely something I wouldn't want to do, but then again writing novels is something that a lot of people feel the same abrasion towards, especially in today's microwave society.
27 years and counting I mush on until life ends. Some quests in life come easy. Others are grueling and have to be earned. Writing and competing in the Iditarod have a lot more in common than you would would think they would have. Both are lonely journeys!
Actual picture of ol' E.C. most days LOST in field of white pages!!
Western movies lend themselves to a exciting blend of outdoor cinematic shots
Conflict Studios updated their web site CONSIDERABLY in the last week. They now have a page where they announce the projects they're looking for. Their first film is set to be a western entitled, Trail Blazers, which Antonio Sabato Jr, wrote and plans to direct and co-star in as well.
So what's my angle? Well-p, I'm just looking for read. See what they think of a couple scripts I've written: Cowboy Alien Diaries and Indians of the Ancient Plains. Their genres being: Supernatural Western Thriller.
Looks like a great place to shoot INDIANS OF THE ANCIENT PLAINS to me!
I don't know if I'll get a script request, OR if either project will solicit any interest. I'm not sure what Antonio wants to do, as I've never talked to him, Kaya Jones, or Nix Tzekker about their plans. BUT I was pleasantly surprised by how broad of a net they were willing to spread, as the moniker "Christian movies" kinda has a negative stigma. When you think of Christian movies I think of heavy-handed dramas. The best "Christian" movie I ever saw was FACING THE GIANTS, I just bought into to the protagonist's journey of a struggling, high school football coach. Not filmatically even that movie was pretty boring, as most dramas tend to be. I like cinematic movies with great shots. I'm a sucker for that shot in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN when Josh Brollin's character is just just looking out over the Texas desert as a cloud changes the lighting on the landscape. Great movies aren't all about the script. A lot of greatness comes from the decision makers who PUT THE MOVIE TOGETHER. Gotta know what to put in a movie. Can't just be emotional set pieces all the time.
So what will Antonio Sabato Jr. come up with? Don't know by I can't wait to see! When I had a Twitter account I followed him. And in hearing some of his interviews about Conflix Studio I was a little disappointed by how defensive he got, and the lack of clarity of where he wanted his vision to go. Combating blacklisting is a great side story, not a fun story to ride 24/7. No, as an ARTIST you've gotta come to the table with more than that. Antonio took a lot of bashing by people on Twitter. Almost all of it was unnecessary, and mean spirited. But now that he's the CEO of his own studio this is his chance to impose his vision on entertainment. To ride above the criticism and make his contribution in the wold of entertainment. And it can't be all about revenge for being blacklisted by corrupt Hollywood. No, at some point you have to make your own art and present it to the world.
I am not a very good entrepreneur. I know that. BUT I do like to write and craft stories. With my past four scripts: PREYORIUM, SO GO BACK & GET HER, THE COMMUNE III, and WHEN THE MOTORCYCLE CALLS, I worked a new style of spec. script. Started imploring the use of fonts, color and bolded and underlined, shot headings to make the read a little funner. I never went to school to screenwrite, all I ever did was read some books on it, and read other script to get the gist of how to write a script. I've never been a "disciple" of any one screenwriter or writing guru. Rather, I just wanted to see how they did it, then work on my own way of doing it.
It's been a LONG time since I did anything with either Cowboy Alien Diaries or Indians of the Ancient Plains, but now I feel it's time to modernize them a bit to my NEW way of writing. Cowboys was the 5th script I wrote. Indians was the 9th. Now if you check that math by reading my Script and Novel Logline sidebar you will see that my counting adds an extra tally. And that's because I feel deserve credit for writing one. Cannonogically that would have been my 3rd script, after writing REVENGE OF THE FAT CHICKS. But the script I can never sell WITHOUT 20th Century Fox's permission is BEYOND THE APES: my revisisualized, Planet of the Apes story in a feature length script. A V.P. at 20th Century Fox sent me a cease and desist letter on this so the kabosh is on it, still before I got that letter I did write a completed draft so I give myself credit for that one.
I've-read both scripts recently, and immediately found things I'd like to change. The bed rock story wont change with the 2021 edits, but I still hope to improve the greater "art" of the story.
This presidential election season was very trying for me. I watched our systems of checks and balances fail the American people. At the state level corrupt election officials stacked the deck so the election could be stolen: mail in votes, Dominion voting machines, unsupervised counting at the counting centers, changed election laws; then later refused to to look at the irregularites that they in large part were responsible for. Now our country is a state of tyranny, where the Democrats ideas are put to practice and their detractors are silenced and shammed. Kiss free speech goodbye. The only thing that can save us now is a military coupe. I don't think citizens rising up is the answer, it's gotta be the military. I feel the need to DISTANCE myself from politics now. Not that I'm capitulating to the Democrats, God willing I'll never do that. I just don't see a means to improve the situation. The Republicans had their chance, but they as a collective group FAILED to demand for election integrity, and in doing so SURRENDERED America over to the Democrats and their totalitiarian demands. I guess I'll keep an eye on politics, but my heart is in it anymore. Too corrupt. Not enough Ted Cruzes and Antonio Sabato Jr.s to rally behind.
So I go back to doing what I love, writing and puttsing around with creative stories that the Lord gave me to write. Will my dreams ever come true? Probably not. Hollywood is mess right now, and even before all this they were going the wrong way looking to make superhero movies with transexual protagonists, and imposing diversity quotas on film projects. It's like they're competing to show everyone how "woke" they are (was that PUKE purple I just chose? Well, that the affect I was looking for woke anything is complete garbage). The whole "woke" and injustice narrative is founded on false pretexts, siting injustices that no longer exists in order to instill unessary tension into our society. The civil rights movement ended a long time ago. It's only corrupt people who insist it never happened. Anyway, debating these issues is a joke from my perspective; these advocates are making monsters where they don't exist, all so they have an enemy to rally against. It's a failed mind-set, but that's they way the Left works.
I love being an entertainer. At the end of the day, that's what I'm endeavoring to do. And now it's time to spruce up to of my favorite stories: Cowboy Alien Diaries, and Indians of the Ancient Plains. Time to ride that horse into the woods of the unknown -- and come back with treasure.
Cam Newton in a press conference AFTER a Super Bowl loss. Biggest front-running, band-wagon player in the history of the NFL, imo.
Wow, in the information age can you do some outlandish things. Was just visiting a Seattle sports talkshow site when I clicked on a link and discovered --
So what's so amazing about it? Well, you'd have to be a fan of sports to appreciate this, but Sportstrac gives you the money details of who's making what in the world of sports, and lists all the free agents. My interest in this site is STRICKLY Seahawk football related: I just wanted to know what free agents were out there that could help my team next year, assuming DUMB-ASS Joe Biden hasn't left everything an ash cinder by then.
Watching my Seattle Seahawks in 2020 was a trip. No fans in their stadium, #boohiss thanks leftists for destroying the enjoyment of anything. Some stadiums even had cut-out fans, of which Bud Light made a funny/parody commercial:
See no fans in the seats was a trip, but playwise... for the first 5 weeks of the season we had the #1 offence in the league and the 32nd rank defense -- or so it seemed. Lotta fun game early on, but as the season wore on, Seattle's offence played worse while their defense seamed to improve.
Frustrating!
We lost to the Rams in the wildcard round, and that didn't surprise me in the least. This team just wasn't good enough to be considered amoungst the ranks of the best in the NFL: Kansas City, Buffalo, Green Bay and New Orleans. Yeah, I know "technically" last week Tampa Bay eliminated New Orleans from the playoffs, but I still thought that team was very solid.
So what does ol' E.C. Henry hope the Seahawks do in the off season? (Assuming Joe Biden doesn't fuck everything up) Well, #1 I'm hoping for more beef on the defensive line -- we need a good pass rusher, and probably a run-clogging nose guard. Next I would say we need a couple more stud offensive linemen in the mix as Mike Ipati and Duane Brown are getting up there in age. Win the line of scrimage, win the game.
If I were the 'Hawks I'd let K.J. Wright go for sure, and maybe Bobby Wagner as well. YES, K.J. was the guy who completed the interception of Colin Kapernick's ball that was intended for Crabtree in the corner of the the endzone in the NFC Championship Game in 2014; but K.J hasn't done much since.
NFL football can be SO FRUSTRATING!! Maybe I shouldn't be complaining so much, I mean we up here in Seattle do have some GREAT moments, memories and games; unlike say Cleveland or San Diego (sorry it will ALWAYS be the San Diego Chargers to me), who seem to be forever snake-bit.
It's fun to play NFL GM, and 2nd guess what a team should or should not do. The sad thing is the college ranks is churning out less and less desirable prospects. Do YOU think that Clemson's Trevor Lawrence is a LEGITIMATE #1 pick? I don't. I think he has BUST written all over him.
Hey broh, so what STUPID ol' E.C. thinks I'm the next Ryan Leaf -- I'm going to be rich!
The draft is such a crapshoot. This year, above all years, the NFL needs the combines to makeup for the lack of games in the 2020 college season, but I just hear yesterday that wasn't going to happen this year because of Corona virus paranoia.
NFL championship games this weekend. Looks like two GREAT match-ups: Bills/Chief, Buccaneers/Packers. I'll be rooting for a Bills/Buccaneers Super Bowl. Why? I wanna see the Bills QB Josh Allen launch a football as far as he can. Don't know if you've ever heard of that name before, but Josh Allen is RUMORED to have the strongest arm in the NFL. I'm rooting for T.B. over G.B. because I've got Aaron Rodgers fatigue. Also I think think Tampa Bay is funner to watch than Green Bay.
Wanna watch me throw it 80 years in the Super Bowl, broh? Ahhh, yeah!
The end is neigh. End to the NFL season will be a glorious one. You got 4 fun teams in the mix. Still wish my Seaahawks were in the mix, but with a fun general manager that we have in John Snider there is hope for a "fun" off-season. One year he brought in Percy Harvin -- who ran a kick back for a clinching touchdown in the the 2014 Super bowl, one year he brought in Jimmy Graham: a big name, tight end who was a bust, then at the start of last year got us Jadevon Clowney who almost singlehandedly won us a game against our main rivals the San Franisco 49ers. So what will the Seahawks do in the 2021 off-season? Don't know, but with John Snider making the decisions there's hope!
Ahh the good ol' days... I don't know about you, but I could use some of THIS right about now!!
In a week and a day, Joe Biden is slated to be inaugurated as the next president of the United State. That is a fact. That fact doesn't mean he won the LEGITIMATE vote. I don't think he did. I think he ONLY won the presidential elect because of RAMPANT fraud. So in my mind that makes --
JOE BIDEN AN ILLEGITIMATE PRESIDENT
Once inaugurated, I will never say Joe Biden isn't the president of the United States. For after a ceremony next Wednesday he will be making decision with the authority of the office, that makes him the functioning president. That still doesn't make him legitimate in my eyes. He is simply the beneficiary of a vast network of bad people, who all work together to push the corpse that Joe Biden is over the finish line. For MONTHS after the election, when Donald Trump was allowed on Facebook and Twitter, they flagged his posts with warnings. Absolutely abhorrent. No respect for free speech. Twitter and Facebook should be ashamed of themselves.
At the end of 2020, HATE won. Democrat hate. Hate for one man who was trying to make America great again: Donald Trump. Their hatred for my president is illogical. He put America first and had the economy humming until the gross over-reaction to Covid came. Under immense pressure I do think Donald Trump did buckle, and allowed way too many restrictions to be placed on American business. Had I been him, I would have pressed harder to open the U.S. up in late April, early May. Remember 3 weeks to beat curve? YES, it sucks to have a super-flu in the U.S., gotta protect the most vulnerable: the elderly; but it's irresponsible to shut down hard-working, HEALTHY Americans who just want to live when it's obvious they should be allowed to do so.
But that's okay because now we've got Joe Biden who claimed Donald Trump botched the response, and now that he's taking the helm we're going be alright.
Illegitimate. Joe Biden is an illegitimate President Elect. He doesn't deserve that position. Shouldn't have been awarded it...
If only we had people who stood up for the American voter. The mail-in election was something that should have been done. It was a gross injustice. The crazy thing is, having a fair election is easy. Here's some SIMPLE RULES for a fair election:
30 days before the election is the last day ANYONE can register to vote. After that the voter roles are frozen.
All voting must be done at a polling station
Every completed ballot must inspected by an election worker, then notarized by the election worker. The voter signs the ballot, so does the election worker.
All totals must be reported by the end of the day. No late night processing.
Every voter must provide voter ID and sign off on ledger BEFORE they vote, then the voter signs the ledger again stating their ballot had been cast and the notarizor signs as well.
Yeah, I've been doing a lot of thinking about how we vote in America and what is, and what is not fair.
Joe Biden is an ILLEGITIMATE PRESIDENT ELECT.
Shitwas a candidate in the 2020 election, Joe Biden was that poop!
That just can't be said enough. Because what happened in the 2020 election after in November until now in January 2021 is an American tragedy:
In 2020 the AMERICAN PEOPLE lost their voice to choose a president of their own. The decision to elect Joe Biden as president of the United States DID NOT COME FROM the American people, it came from somewhere else. And that's a tragedy.
I don't trust those in today in the Democrat Party, and now many scared Republicans are siding with them. It's sad. Our country is heading the wrong way. We need better leadership than what we have now.
Hup, the real leader of the Democratic Party just showed up! Who do You think they bow to?
I fear that the Democrat controlled government will result in the United States of America being the United States of America no longer. We no longer have fair elections. There is already unjust treatment of conservatives. Donald Trump should be allowed to finish his term in honor, and all the attacks and de-platforming of him is mean-spirited and should be condemned by all. Instead, will power the Democrats show how vindictive they are, and how utterly USELESS they have become. Here we are in a pandemic and ALL they can think of doing is impeaching a guy who is now less than 10 days away from leaving office. Heck, Nanci Pelosi wants the nucklear codes taken from Trump! He had them for 3.99 year -- and NOW she's meeting with generals to discuss this?!! RIDICULOUS. Sometimes you doubt these people (Democrats and Nanci Pelosi) are even from the United States of America at all. Like Joe Biden, they must want China to win!
Now me, I: E.C. Henry want AMERICA to win. Can't believe that even needs to be said, but in today's troubling society and developments it does.
I love Donald Trump. The more the Left attacks him, the more I feel the need to defend him. WHY?!!? Because he put America first. He tried to make our lives better. And that means something to me. But on January 20th (until Kamala Harris takes over for him), apparently it will be ILLEGITIMATE Joe Biden in the top spot as president. Sad, so sad. I have low expectations of how he'lldo. I read in a news headline that Joe Biden want to take on the NRA. WHY? What a STUPID endeavor! But that's Joe Biden, so stupid is to be expected.
ILLEGITIMATE.Joe Biden only got the office because others pushed him over the finish line, and refused to look into brazen fraud in the 2020 election. Even the American Supreme Court failed the American people. They should have heard EVERY election fraud case they had access too. The stakes are simply too big for them to turn their backs on it all, yet that's what they chose to do. Nothing to see here, just the American people being defrauded. And this coming from a group of 7 who are supposed to be our last line of defense. Now, you can't even trust that!
I see where this country is headed and it's not a good place. Still, I refuse to just sit back and accept to have my voice stolen. The 2020 election was a sham. Our elected officials let it become that. The end result being:
Joe Biden: an Illegitimate President of the United States.
My country, the United States of America, is a VERY BAD place right now. As I sit and write this post it is the Monday the 11th of January, 2021. As it stands now congress has announced that Joe Biden won the electoral college as is set to begin his term as president of the United States on January 20th.
If you haven't already noticed I no longer have a Twitter or Facebook account. I decided to leave Twitter because I feel Twitter ban on President Trump having an account is infringement on Americans rights to free speech. I decided to leave Facebook because they took it upon themselves to de-platform Walk Away. I've heard of Brandon Straka's movement before. His mission was to help people leave the Democratic Party, of which I wholeheartedly support. Now, even Parler, which was supposed to the Consevatives safe alternative to Twitter has been taken away from us, as Amazon stopped letting them use their servers. Wow, oppression has buddies!
We are living in a time of Big Tech tyranny. And now that the Democrat control all three branches of Federal government: Presidency, House of Representatives, and the Senate; I think we are now in an unpresidented era of tyranny.
On Friday, January 8th the president-elect called a prominent member of the senate: Ted Cruz (Republican) from Texas; Joseph Goebbels, who was a Nazi politician and propagandist under Adolf Hilter in Nazi Germany of Word War II times.
Can you believe that? The president of the free world calling one of his own senators a Nazi propagandist!! Holy Moley! That kind of rhetoric boggles the mind, and this coming from a presidential candidate who promised to be an American President for all people who would unify the country. Talk about say one thing, do another--that's Joe Biden--and he's about to be our next president. We are screwed. I mean really, really screwed.
Joe Biden thinks Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz deserve to be compared to Nazi Germany's Joseph Goebbes
The "big lie" isn't that the American media is the enemy of the people--it is! The media is carrying the water for the Democrat party. They an arm of their's and aren't serving the American people by reporting the news accurately. Joe Biden defend their action because it benefits him. Remember the 2020 Presidential Campaign? They treated Joe Biden with kid gloves, basically leaving him alone in his basement until now.
Now there is a big push against deplatforming Conservatives and ruining their lives. That's many people's idea of unity. They are the ones acting like Nazis--not president Trump! How far do they go with this? Well, they're moving on from president Trump and attacking U.S. Senators now!!
Are we still in the U.S.A?
Donald Trump won the 2020 election. It took a cordinated effort of voter and over-arching election fraud to overturn the true will of the American people. Now you cant even get the courts to look at the election and investigate the fraud. Why? I think people are running scared.
It's so sad what's going on in our once great country. So many people caving when it's time to stand up and be counted. Be patriots and show love for the country. The Democrats are driving America away from who we used to be. They are driving us away from the law the U.S. Constitution. I'm not sure what the future brings, but I think looks very bleak under Democrat control. More suppression of individual rights, less freedom, more economic oppression.
Wish I had a rosier look for the future, but I don't trust Democrat leadership. Hopefully God rescues us, because most in the government at the local and federal level has abandoned us. Even the Supreme Court did us wrong refusing to look at the fraud in the 2020 election. Now we have lost the power to chose our own leadership. You can't trust the system: our politicians have sold us out.
Joe Biden thinks looking into corruption in the 2020 election is part of the "big lie". No, Joe, assuming power under a false vote with our votes going over to Rome, Italy for Hammer & Scorecard adjustments is a lie--a lie to the American people! IF I was LEGITIMENT president I would want all election fraud claims investigated. But Joe Biden doesn't, because he benefits from such corruption.
It's sad. What's going on now in our country is sad. The 2020 election was stolen from president Trump and the American people. We have lost a representative government and now just have mean-spirited overloards dictating down SUPPRESSION. We are no longer the United States of America. Those in power in the government have taken away the America that we once knew and replaced it with an anti-business dictatorship of there own. Hopefully this gets replaced soon, or we will be in a complete slave state.
Few inspiring things these days, BUT one thing that did sound good to me was people leaving the Republican Party for something better. I did like MOST Republican people in government, but now I'm warming up to the promise of something new:
I think it's a consensus among most people in the United States that they're looking forward to 2020 being over with. I know I am. I am SICK of all UNNECESSARY Covid restrictions, and I'm ready for business to be reborn in the United States.
Unfortunately with 2020 election NOT going the way I'd hoped, it looks like were STUCK with Democrat governors and Joe Biden as president.
Wow, what an AWFUL election we had back in November 2020. So many rules were bended in favor of the Democrats. All of their wins are suspect in my opinion, as I believe they used LOTS of varied cheating methods to STEAL THE VOTE and thus deny the true intention of the LEGAL, American voters who participated in the 2020 election. In my option the Trump team's legal case should be tried in court. Lets see what's really there and let it be open to cross examination. BUT you have a lot of people in the judicial system who don't wanna look at potential voter fraud. They wanna sweep it under the counter and just ASSUME everything was right. I don't buy that.
I voted for Donald Trump and Republican in every category I could EXCEPT one local office where I suspected the guy running against a Democrat was a quack. I met him and heard him speak, and decided we'd be better off without him.
Joe Biden says he can "unify" America. I don't buy that for a minute. I consider him a sell-out to China. Joe Bide is a guy who has accomplished just about NOTHING in nearly 50 years in office. The Democrat Party went on and on about diversity and promoting minorities; yet in the end they chose a white, old guy who is the epitome of politics as it's always been.
A 2020 Biden election "rally" had more in common with a funeral procession
No, I don't believe Joe Biden got more LEGAL votes than Donald Trump. I believe a myriad of cheating was used to steal this election. I hope that before the next president takes office ALL allegations of fraud in the 2020 election have their day in court. Because the fact of the matter is, voting by mail should have never been allowed. All eligible voters should have had to go to a polling station, be verified and checked off a voters roll, then cast their vote, have it notarized by an election official then be allowed to watch it be scanned right then and there into a local tabulator. Same day reporting of results. All videotaped.
Fair and honest elections can be EASILY achieved. The problem is:
The Democrats don't want a fair vote by the American people.
Instead what we got was shenanigans at city tabulation areas. People in Georgia waiting for everyone to leave then running ballots through the machine without supervision. One truck driver even lost a container of his filled with ballots. 20 USB voting sticks were "missing" in Pennsylvania. Backdating of mail-in ballots. Just all kids of fraud. And then you find out that Dominion voting machines ALLOWS its users to CHANGE VOTES! Besides all that there was the sending of our votes to a server in Frankfort Germany! Hammer & Scorecard technology. Did Barack Obama election-changing-CIA-technology get used against the American voter in 2020? That's a BIG DEAL that needs to be investigated.
So... As 2020 comes to close, we still have a lot of issues as a nation to face. Funny how this whole race rioting in the cities has ceased since the end of August. Imo the FBI needs to be tasked to take ANTIFA down and expose EVERYTHING they're about. Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis: let's get our cities back! Living in Washington let me say our problems can ALL be traced back to POOR Democrat leadership. The Seattle city council is a JOKE! To lesser degree is its mayor Jenny Durkan. Our governor, Jay Inslee actually claimed ignorance when the "Autonomous Zone" was set up over 8 city blocks in July of 2020.
I just can't get wrap my head around how bad the Democratic Party is. I'm really not the biggest Trump support, as much as I'm opposed to the radical left and communist leaning, Democrat Party. For years the frauds in the Democrat Party bemoaned Donald Trump as an asset of Russia, yet look who they choose to represent them, a SELL-OUT to China in Joe Biden. Hypocrisy knows no bounds in the Democratic Party.
So if you're a Democrat viewing the post, in a way I get it. So much of the media is in bed with that party. Heck, even FOX News turned on Donald Trump on election night (that's why I watch Newsmax and OANN now). With all the anti-America propaganda being insisted on by the media there is considerable pressure to cave-in and believe their lies. I hope that you will continued to be fair and balanced and make the best decisions you can.
As we move into 2021, I am very fearful of the continuation of the United States of America that our forefathers fought for. So many people have turned their backs on Freemarket Capitalsim, and have surrendered to Socialism. Freemarket Capitalism made many people rich, so why abandon it for a system that rigs who gets what in a totally unfair matter. Study the undergirdings of the Democratic Party--it's all garbage! Democrats are taking this country BACKWARDS in race relations. They will make this country more unsafe by defunding the police. We don't need their new Green Deal, what we need is for businesses to be free, and allowed to operate without constraint.
The Democrats what to enslave you. That's the purpose of just about everything they do. They don't believe in a free society. Most of our current problems can be traced back to THEM!
I really don't like being political. I'm an entertainer at heart. But I'm also an American citizen. And I'm not going to sit back and let my country be flushed down the toilet by people who are enacting a system that is gear to enslave the American people and kill their voices.
So if our current plight seams a little too much for you, I get it. Sometimes its too much for me too. But YOUR VOICE matters. Even if you take position against me, your voice matters. May God have mercy of the citizens of the United States of America, because we have been SOLD OUT by Democrat election officials, Democrat activists, most in the media, by government officials, and may in the judicial system. Our country is a mess, and the ones most responsible for that are DEMOCRATS!!
Politics aside, which is a hard thing to do, ol' E.C. Henry is hoping to FINALLY get his epic fantasy series published in 2021. Lotta work to to that, but that's my focus now. Had a really bad experience with a "book doctor" about five years ago now. So I'm thinking I'm going to have to do it all myself. Earn a living, and still self-publish these books. Eyeing late spring of 2021 to have the 1st three books in the Thars series off to self publisher. Because like the old Beattle's song, I wanna be a paperback writer.
In 2021 I've got a lot of home projects and personal goals I hope to accomplish. 1) Put in a new chandalier in our dining room. 2) Put up new vanity lights for my parents' bathroom. 3) Insulate our water pump. 4) Clean out our garage and sort through over 20 totes of screws, and building pieces. 5) Hire a tree service to take down some trees. 6) Get a better job. 7) Rebuild my savings. As I gave $6,100 to WinRed so help Donald Trump uncover election fraud. FIRST time I ever gave my money to a political anything. Hoping in 2021 to connect more with the local Republican Party, would like to get involved in elections. NOT to tilt the field, but to ensure fairness. I'm a a fair-minded guy and that's what's needed in elections. 8) Buy a new car, not sure what yet, just leaning that way. 9) Find a new church to attend. With the Covid restrictions me and my family stopped going to church in March of 2020. Need to get back into the local church!
In closing, chin up for 2021. It can't be worse than a muzzled 2020 that had Minneapolis burn down for no reason, and a prolonged suppression of the American people. But the spirit of the free lives on! And that's our hope: a good God working through good people to make for the framework of a prosperous society. I love this country and it's people. I hope you do to. To a better 2021 and beyond!
Just before Christmas I completed my 24th spec. script!! This one is a "creature feature" in the mold of Godzilla and Gamera movies from the 1960s and 70s. The script I completed is entitled PREYTORIUM, and here's its logline which is also available in my Script & Novels Logline sidebar.
PREYTORIUM
Genre: Creature Feature
Logline:Investors send a mining team to the world of Alta-Att in hopes of looting its resources. But these explorers find Alta-Att is filled with cutthroat natives who are bent on taking over their spaceship to go to Earth.
This was a promo. drawing I drew for the script
So as the year closes out that makes 2 spec. scripts I completed in 2020. The other was a raunchy rom-com entitled, SO GO BACK & GET HER. The funny thing in comparing the two scripts was the different dichotomy under which they were written. I wrote SO GO BACK & GET HER in RECORD times (at least for me) at the start of the Covid pandemic in March through early April. Whereas I took MUCH longer to write PREYTORIUM which I was working on July through December 24th.
This was a fun script to write. I had the original idea for PREYTORIUM a LONG TIME ago. The kernal idea was that the ruling class of a human, alien world assumes the bodies of crabs with the belief that will help them survive an asteroid cataclymic event, then after that catacycm is over, they find they actually like living with this new nature. I remained true to this building block, and from it came everything else.
Growing up I loved watching "creature features": Godzilla, Gamera, and to a lesser degree King Kong, though I really like the 1976 movie with Jeff Bridge and Jessica Lange.
Even as a kid I recognized the hoaky nature of the Godzilla and Gamera movies: men in rubber suits, clumbsily whacking each other. Action figure attacks in model-figurine settings. I never remembered a plot that sparked my imagination either. Rather the core attraction of these movies was the monster fights:
This image was sparked by a one featured by a post made by Carson Reeves, and it just so fit the "vibe" in Preytorium
So why did E.C. write Preytorium? I wrote this story because I thought it would be a FUN one to write. I have never endeavored to write a "creature feature" before, though I have written monster oriented scripts before: Cowboy Alien Diaries, Indians of the Ancient Plains, The Commune series: I - III, and Bubblehead Saves the Day.
What was E.C. Henry's biggest problem/issue writing this Preytorium? That's easy. TONE! There was times I thought I was writing Pirates of the Caribbean in space. There was time I thought I was writing Godzilla meets Planet of the Apes. There was times I thought I was writing Prometheus. Right now I'm waiting for a critique back from a seasoned reader, so we'll see how I did.
E.C. Henry struggles with "tone" in his writing of Preytorium
Why did you use many colors and "tricked out fonts" with Preytorium? E.C. Henry thought it ADDED something to the zany and visual aesthetic of the READING script. Sure I could have delivered a STANDARD, by-the-books script; but that's not what this story needed, in my opinion. Preytorium IS Godzilla meets Pirates of the Caribbean, and when you've got that POTENTIAL, you can't be afraid to take a few chances and TRY to make the reading experience something memorable.
What am I most proud of with this script, Preytorium? Probably the humor. ANYTIME I write something funny, it surprises me because I don't see myself as a naturally "funny" person. BUT read my last three scripts: When the Motorcycle Calls, The Commune III, and now Preytorium; and guess what? They're funny! I have a comedic side! Yay! Sorry, this STILL doesn't feel right; E.C. Henry the COMEDY writer?!!
In the end I'm VERY PROUD of what I've written with Preytorium. This is kinda a middle of the pack script from this writer's perspective. Wasn't nearly as easy at it was to write, So Go Back & Get Her, but also wasn't near as hard to write: Revenge of the Fat Chicks, Cowboy Alien Diaries, or A Heart Built on the Sand.
The creative life if a fickle thing. You NEVER know where it's taking you next. That makes it exciting and terrifying at the same time. In the end you just follow your dreams and see where takes you. Next up for yours truly: back to Thars to get some PAPERBACK NOVELS done! Yep, that is STILL a focus of mine. 2021 will be the year... That and probably a sequel to So Go Back and Get Her.
I wanna LOVE people more. Love is from the Lord. He loves people more that I ever will, I know that. But in modeling my life after Him. Loving people is something I need to make for a priority. But how do we do that in the fall of 2020 while living in America?
Well, for starters, I'm not DEAD yet! So long as there's breath in my lungs and I have life there is opportunity to love other people. It's easy to love and develop commraderie with people who are like you; but this is not the tact Jesus used. He gave His love freely to people around Him.
You just never know the impact your life can have on other people. Conversely, people impact your life. Some for the better, some for the worse. But instead to focusing on who wronged you. Why not focus on the people who made a change in your life for the better, and try to emulate that in your own life?
Don't know about you, but I have been GRACED with an abundance of good, loving people. Perhaps the biggest shaper in my life was an ex-pastor I had. His name was Bob Kaminski. Bob was a Boeing project manner by day, co-pastor of small church by weekend; lover of Jesus 100% of the time. When I first came to Christ in the early 90s, I did so after contemplating suicide. I had been drinking very heavily after ending a stint working on a fisher/processor boat in Alaska; and was a mess. I remember fearing I was filled with demons, but when Bob looked into my eyes he smiled, gave me a hug and said I was going to be okay. I didn't know if I'd ever be able to think clearly again, but then I started reading God's word, and things changed for the better. Besides showing me the FORGIVENESS of Jesus at a critical point in my life, Bob Kaminski also went down to the streets of Tacoma on Friday nights and ministered to those on the streets. That's right a Boeing executive served the down-and-out in his free time. THAT left a mark in my psyche that never left.
Lately I've been spending A LOT of time on social media. Especially Twitter. Mr. Unpopular (me) is now up to 265 followers! Can you believe that? True most of these people I don't even know, as most of my "followers" are people I picked up who are Right leaning. I figured they started "following" me because I said something in support of the Lord, Donald Trump, Republicans, or just defending someone's honor who I thought was being wronged.
TrumpRallies are good places to find good people
Boy is there ever a contrast in people these days. Right vs. Left. Don't wanna stereotype all Democrats as bad people, but then more time you spend on-line with them the more you see hate and vitriol coming from them. Some posts by Left-wing people and highly slanderous, dirty and pornographic. Most of the slander comes from what I would call FAKE ACCOUNTS. That's where the user takes a false name so they can spew bile thinking it can never be traced back to them. What a WASTE OF TIME it is for someone to take up that approach. These are BAD PEOPLE, but that's not the focus of this post, GOOD PEOPLE are. Speaking of which...
Kaya inelectric mode!
The brightest shinning star in America today is woman by the name of Kaya Jones, and she is currently my most favorite person. Kaya is one of the three founders of Conflix Studios, which a talked about a couple posts ago. There are too many things to count of why I like Kaya. I guess the first thing that jumps out at you is that she's GORGEOUS; drop dead beautiful. The next thing you'll come to appreciate about Kaya is that she's a crusader: pro-Trump, against human trafficing, pro-Christian, anti-censorship on social media. Kaya is someone you can get to know online. She is very forthright about who and what she is. I bring this up because a lot of people are very guarded, and you can NEVER get to know them online. Kaya Jones is not like that. What's better is the more you get to know her, the more you fall in in love with her. Kaya is not shy about sharing her faith, and overall has a positive outlook on life.
Kaya Jones is E.C. Henry's most favorite person. She is God's little fashionista!
That said, I'm ALWAYS looking for GOOD PEOPLE to support. This is a tough time we're in, and right now my focus is making sure GOOD PEOPLE are supported and elevated.
So how do you judge who is good and who is bad? Well for starters. God is the ultimate judge of character. E.C.Henry doesn't always get it right. Why do you think I'm ALWAYS editing my epic fantasy series and the scripts I've written. Because I'm flawed and I don't always get it right, BUT I am committed becoming a better person, learning and growing. I don't see myself as the fount of all-things good. I am not the Lord. I'm a CHILD of the Lord; an immitator or Jesus. You be the judge of how close I come to highest standard that we should be striving for: being who God created us to be!
Good people are the hope for America. Not Donald Trump alone, America needs good people. Thankfully I'm finding more and more of them. And I fully plan on blessing and encouraging them.
I'll end with a funny story of something that happened to me yesterday. As you may or may not know, I'm TRYING to get more involved with the Washington State Republican Party so I'm following them online and trying to go events they sponsor. On their site they had an event scheduled for 9 a.m. in a park in Auburn. I didn't what it was about, but when the director tweeteed to me where it was I went. Turns out it was door knocking, pamphlet awareness effort on behalf of Jesse Jensen, who is running for Congress. I knew NOTHING about this candidate going into this. Making matters worse I wore a promotional shirt for my writing and a cape, and had Chimpy the monkey in my pockets. O, AND I forgot to wear my face mask. Still, I went out with a group and even knocked on a couple door, though once I realized what this event was all about, I realized this wasn't about making myself known, it was about raising political awareness, selflessly. Guess there's room to grow there.
If E.C. Henry came to your door, would you answer it?
Still, the group didn't outright reject me; though I wasn't doing it right. The honest truth I don't like going door-to-door for ANY reason, BUT if it helps a fellow Republican win I guess I'll just swallow my pride and do it.
Life is messy. We don't always get it right. And when I was walking with this group I learned a lot. We don't have to be of the same mindset to do the right thing collectively. I am awful representative of the Conservative Party and values. My heart is NOT in politics, it's in entertainment. I am NOT a great political or business mind, I am undiscovered creative talent. That's me, that's where I'm coming from. One of the other guys in our group was running for some kind of insurance office. I talked with the guy briefly and found him to be WAYYY out there. Had a hard time relating to him, yet there he was knocking on door doing a lot better than me. Sometimes you gotta just laugh. Laugh at yourself and the situation you're in. I also met a lady from Seattle who was a real chatterbox. She was nice to me and talked with me extensively. One other person in the door-knocker crowd who really made an impression was in Indian wearing a turban. I just saw the guy from afar. You don't generally think of Indians with turbans as ambassadors of the Republican Party. But why not? If you're a citizen ANYONE can be a Republican, not just white males. Anyway, it does my heart good to see people of other ethnicities being active in the political process. Why not. It's their country too. Good does not discriminate. It's something that we're all capable of doing, and it should be our focus.
So I move on through life, I'm going to try to stumble less. It's just I have a hard time acting selflessly. Being undiscovered SUCKS! Yeah I'm at peace with it, but it doesn't mean I like it. But I will NEVER convert to being a liberal to boast my chances of getting discovered. Gotta be true to yourself and what hold as good. And it's not as though I believe Conservatives have a lock on good, and always do what's right. Good is choice. A decision by decision choice. I am a Republican because they represent good, whereas all I've seen for a long time is bad out of the Democrat Party.
Scribophile E.C. is putting pages of his Legend of Thars series here to be critiqued. This is a site where novelists get feedback on their work. I'm a member of THREE groups there.
